Stratagem, an established Lakewood CPA and consulting firm, is looking for an energetic, service-oriented bookkeeper to join our Client Accounting Services department.  The ideal candidate will be experienced in multiple software applications and have experience performing various functions for clients.  The selected person will join an experienced Client Accounting Services department with team members who will dedicate time to your training so you quickly develop into an integral member of the team.

Job Requirements: The successful candidate will:

  • Have five to seven years’ experience in full-cycle bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
  • Be proficient in payroll processing and preparation of payroll tax returns for multiple clients with at least 2 years of experience
  • Be capable of working on multiple clients each month as well as being able to quickly switch gears to attend to work that is urgent
  • Be familiar with the preparation of Sales and Use Tax returns
  • Be computer literate with an aptitude for learning new software; have a skill level of at least intermediate in QuickBooks and Excel
  • Enjoy learning new skills in a fast-paced, high-performing environment
  • Be able to prioritize client work to meet deadlines
  • Exhibit a professional attitude and appearance
  • Be able to work independently
  • Pay exceptional attention to detail
  • Complete project work as well as routine tasks
  • Interact in a professional and timely manner with clients and firm staff

Required experience:

  • Bookkeeping and client accounting including A/P, A/R, and account reconciliations
  • Payroll and payroll tax returns
  • Sales and use tax returns
  • General Ledger review and adjusting entries
  • Client financial statement preparation for review by a CPA

Senior Tax Administrator 2017-08-14T13:12:57+00:00

Stratagem, an established Lakewood CPA and consulting firm, is looking for an energetic, service-oriented person to join our administrative team.  As a Senior Tax Administrator, this person will be an integral part of the Tax Department, jointly managing the tax return and extension processing for our firm, as well as providing executive support to our Tax Department managers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Process and assemble a variety of tax returns utilizing paperless as well as paper processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals by determining concepts, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, obtaining approvals, and producing deliverables to potential clients.
  • Assist with project and due-date management.
  • Set up and maintain client files.
  • Assist with engagement letter process.
  • Communicate with preparers, managers, and partners.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess at least three to five years of administrative experience, preferably with one to two years of Executive Assistant experience and in a public accounting environment.
  • Familiarity with practice management tools such as document management, time & billing software, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, document scanning, etc. is preferred.
  • Overtime during busy seasons (February through mid-April, September through mid-October).
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exhibit a professional attitude and appearance, the ability to work independently, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent organization skills are a must.

Skills Needed:

  • Excellent verbal, communication and listening skills
  • Technical skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Some business acumen relating to accounting, tax, and/or legal document management

Desired but not required:

  • Associate or Bachelor degree
  • Familiarity with tax return processing, tax forms, e-filing
  • Knowledge of CCH ProSystem fx tax preparation software a plus
